
Bethany McClatchey is a committed performer and diligent student currently pursuing a Master’s in Violin Performance and Literature degree under Meg Freivogel and the Jupiter Quartet at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She earned dual bachelor’s degrees in Music Performance and Pedagogy under Dr. Soh-Hyun Altino and Dr. Lee Joiner at the Wheaton College Conservatory of Music.
During her undergraduate studies, Bethany served in principal positions for the conservatory’s Symphony Orchestra and Opera Orchestra. She was awarded high honors throughout her degree, including the Stella Russell Scholarship in Music, and took first prize in the annual Chamber Music Competition two years in a row. She has often recorded and premiered contemporary music in collaboration with acclaimed modern composers, including works by Morten Lauridsen, Chris Tomlin, and Shawn Okpebholo, and has also enjoyed the opportunity of live performances at Carnegie Hall alongside recording artists Keith and Kristyn Getty.
Bethany is a passionate teacher, going the extra mile to share her love of music with her students. She has taught in a wide variety of contexts, from tutoring undergraduate courses to teaching private lessons to young musicians and coaching group classes and chamber groups. In the future, she intends to continue teaching, collaborating, and performing, sharing her passion for music with audiences and students alike.
